New York, NY, July 2, 2025 ... ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) today issued the following statement in response to the decision from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights regarding Harvard University:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights issued a decision with detailed findings of fact and legal analysis that confirms what has been widely known for years: Harvard University violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act by showing deliberate indifference to the pattern of discrimination and harassment faced by Jewish and Israeli students on campus from October 7, 2023, through the present.
We urge the administration to continue to conduct comprehensive investigations of the crisis of antisemitism on college campuses and in K-12 schools in compliance with mandated procedures and to work collaboratively with schools, including Harvard, to promptly remedy the hostile environment for Jewish students. No student should have to hide their identity or feel unsafe at school.
ADL is the leading anti-hate organization in the world. Founded in 1913, its timeless mission is “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.” Today, ADL continues to fight all forms of antisemitism and bias, using innovation and partnerships to drive impact.
