LAS VEGAS —Jewish Nevada, a nonprofit organization that serves as the representative organization for the more than 70,000 Jews in Nevada, is hosting its Annual Meeting, a hybrid event allowing for in-person attendance as well as virtual attendance. The meeting, taking place at Worre Studios on Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m., will welcome new board members while also presenting honors to outstanding Jewish leaders in the Nevada community.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak will be in attendance to share remarks and present an official proclamation that the State of Nevada stands in solidarity with the Jewish community in the face of antisemitism. With the rise of hate crimes, particularly aimed at the Jewish community, Governor Sisolak is calling attention to this matter and pledging strong support for the safety of the Jewish community and all residents of Nevada.
At the Annual Meeting, Nevada Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Jolie Brislin is being awarded the Jewish Communal Professional of the Year Award, which is presented to a remarkable community professional.
Additionally, Jewish Nevada will recognize three local community members. Matthew Levin is being awarded the Young Leadership Award, sponsored by the David L. Simon Foundation, which recognizes a young professional who has demonstrated commitment to the Jewish community through involvement, leadership and personal achievements.
Jillian Potashnick is being named the Mensch Volunteer of the Year for being an outstanding volunteer and Lauren Eisenberg is being recognized with the Jewish Educator of the Year Award for being a remarkable educator at the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus.
The event will also celebrate Joshua Pianko’s leadership and service during the last two years as the chair of the board for Jewish Nevada and usher in new board chair Bruce Goldman as well as five other new board members.
“We are incredibly honored and excited to be able to say ‘thank you’ and recognize wonderful Jewish community members and our board members at our Annual Meeting,” said Jewish Nevada President and CEO Stefanie Tuzman. “We look forward to 2022 and the great steps Nevada’s Jewish community is making as we continue our mission to invest, enrich and ensure the vibrancy and continuity of Jewish life in Nevada, Israel and around the world.”
Nevada attendees who attend the meeting virtually or in-person will receive a special gift from the Pianko Family: $18 donated to Jewish Nevada in their name to direct to a Nevada Jewish community organization of their choice. Recommendations will be made at the annual meeting from a selected list.
