This database provides an overview of many of the symbols most frequently used by a variety of white supremacist groups and movements, as well as some other types of hate groups.

All the symbols depicted here must be evaluated in the context in which they appear. Few symbols represent just one idea or are used exclusively by one group. For example, 100% is often used as an amount or an expression and it is also used by some by some white supremacists as shorthand for "100% white." Similarly, other symbols in this database may be significant to people who are not extreme or racist. The descriptions here point out significant multiple meanings but may not be able to relay every possible meaning of a particular symbol.

We Wuz Kangs

The phrase “We Wuz Kangs” is a racist term meant to attack African-Americans by racist mockery of Afrocentric theories about Egyptian connections to sub-Saharan Africa.

White Aryan Resistance

Hate Symbol

White Aryan Resistance (WAR) was a loosely organized racist skinhead movement in the late 1980s and early 1990s centered around white supremacist Tom Metzger. Now the symbol is associated with Metzger himself or used as a general hate symbol.

White Knights

Hate Symbol

The White Knights are a Texas-based white supremacist prison gang (also active in Arizona in recent years). Their main symbol consists of a knight's helmet containing a skull. Behind the skull are two crossed swords, while the words "white" and "knight" appear on "rockers" above and below the skull.

White Lives Matter

Hate Symbol

“White Lives Matter” is both a white supremacist slogan adopted after the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement as well as a loose movement of white supremacists who hold events to popularize the phrase.

Wolfsangel

ALTERNATE NAMES: Wolf's Hook, DopplehakenThe Wolfsangel is an ancient runic symbol that was believed to be able to ward off wolves. Historically, it appeared in Germany in many places, ranging from guidestones on the sides of roads to heraldic use in the coats of arms of various towns; there is even a German city called Wolfsangel. Women for Aryan Unity (WAU) is a longstanding white supremacist group for women. Its logo is a diamond featuring red and white stripes and stylized letters spelling “WAU.”

WP

Hate Symbol

WP is an acronym for the common white supremacist chant "White Power." In some contexts, WP may refer to "White Pride" instead.

WPWW

Hate Symbol

WPWW is a common white supremacist acronym that stands for "White Pride World Wide." The phrase is used as part of the logo for Stormfront, the largest white supremacist website on the Internet, which accounts for its widespread use by white supremacists. Additional Images:

You Will Not Replace Us

Hate Symbol

The phrase “You Will Not Replace Us” is a white supremacist slogan referring to the common White supremacist belief that the white race is in danger of going extinct due to rising numbers of non-White people who are controlled and manipulated by Jews. It may also be seen in acronym form as YWNRU.

ZOG

ZOG is a white supremacist acronym for "Zionist Occupied Government," which reflects the common white supremacist belief that the U.S. government is controlled by Jews. This has resulted in white supremacist slogans such as "Smash ZOG," "Kill ZOG, or "Death to ZOG." Additional Images:

Zyklon B

Hate Symbol

Zyklon B was the name of the sodium-cyanide-based gas used to kill over a million victims, most of them Jews, in the death camps constructed by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust. Because of its association with killing Jews, Zyklon B has been adopted as a symbol by modern-day white supremacists, who often use it to make sick jokes about killing Jews. Additional Images:
